Kerim Seiler

Kerim Seiler, born in Bern in 1974, is known for his large-scale projects in public space, ones that combine the characteristic aesthetics of rough materiality, stimulating colourfulness, and architectural design. He attended the Vorkurs at the Schule für Gestaltung in Zürich and transferred to the École supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva in 1993. From 1997 he studied at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg and graduated in 2002 from the class of Bernhard Johannes Blume. Both the Bauhaus-oriented Vorkurs and his Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture from ETH Zürich in 2011 continue to influence Seiler’s thinking and work today. His artwork is characterised by the study of constructed spatial structures and their impact on the individual.

Kerim Seiler lebt und arbeitet in Zürich und Berlin. Seiler ist bekannt für seine teils monumentalen Lichtarbeiten. Seine Arbeit bewegt sich einerseits im konzeptuellen Feld, andererseits thematisiert sie Räume, in denen farbliche Kompositionen immer wieder in den Vordergrund treten. Seine Arbeiten knüpfen häufig an die konkrete und konstruktivistische Kunst an oder transformieren sie in Zeitgenössisches. Seine Arbeiten werden weltweit ausgestellt, unter anderem im Kunsthaus Zürich, der Kunsthalle Mannheim oder im Museum Tinguely.
